Recife Airport in a nutshell

Recife Airport is officially called Aeroporto Internacional Gilberto Freyre, but is better known as Aeroporto dos Guararapes. It’s the largest airport in the northeast of Brazil.

The airport is situated 11 kilometers south of Recife’s city center and close by the beach of Boa Viagem (about 2 kilometers). Although not directly connected with the terminal, there’s a subway station nearby the airport. The airport lies along freeway BR-101 and is therefore easily reachable by car and bus.

The airport has a reasonable shopping area and some restaurants. The airport will be extended for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and will then have more shops and eating and drinking facilities. There are no business facilities at the airport. To book meeting or conference rooms you need to turn to the business hotels in Recife.
