Car Hire in Katowice with zero Insurance Excess Held on Your Credit Card
The rental car will be insured for accidents and theft included in the rental fee you’ll see the website. This insurance is often referred to as Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).
All of our rentals in Katowice include CDW in the price , there’s often an insurance excess, which is held on your credit card on collection. The insurance excess is the total amount you would be required to pay if the car is severely damaged, written off or stolen. However, the excess on hire cars can be high. It’s often between £800 to £2,200, depending on the car, the country and the deal. If you return the car damaged, or it’s stolen or written off, you will be required to pay some or all of the excess.
When you pick up the rental car, the insurance excess is held on your card as a ‘pre authorised’ transaction. This means that the amount isn’t charged to your card as a regular payment, it’s held as a pending payment until you return the car. You won’t normally have to pay currency fees on credit cards for pre authorised payments. As long as the car is returned in the same condition as when you collected it, the amount will be fully refunded to your card with nothing further to pay.
If you plan to pay by debit card, the insurance excess is taken from your bank account and fully refunded when the car is dropped off. If you plan to use a debit card on collection, as the excess amount is often high, we recommend to either buy Premium Cover when you book or to pay for top up insurance at the collection desk.
